new thing i learned just now: in like 400 AD there was a monk named simeon stylites who used to live in a one room cell with a window but too many people kept bugging him for religious advice, so he climbed to the top of a pillar and shackled himself to it until he died 37 years later.

this became a cool new trend to the point where there were enough pillar monks of varying viewpoints that they would scream at each other all day

Before anyone goes into vegan leather alternatives made from cactus or cork or fruit waste...

I heard of those too. I thought they were really cool! I thought it was a great idea! So I went and looked into how they were made!

They're all made by binding the organic material together with at least 50% plastic.

They're still all plastic.

With this in mind, I cannot impress this vehemently enough:

If you are on Twitter as a creator of any kind, it's time to pack up your work and GET THE HELL OUT.

On Friday, without citing evidence, Musk alleged that “Every Al organization on Earth" had used Twitter's data for training, “in all cases illegally." It was not clear which laws would have been violated by others' data scraping. Earlier this month, Twitter sued four unknown parties for data scraping in Texas.

In light of widespread use of Twitter data by Al software developers, Musk said, "I guess we will use the public tweets— obviously not anything private— for training as well, just like basically everyone else has." Twitter's data set appeals for "text training," and "image and video training," Musk said.
